Thursday 13 August is A-level and AS-level results day for students across England and Wales, including the thousands of Pembrokeshire learners who sat examinations this summer. Results are released to schools from 8am, and most centres will be open for pupils to collect their envelopes in person from that time.
Pembrokeshire County Council has a long-standing tradition of congratulating learners on results day and reminding both pupils and families that support and guidance is available regardless of the outcome. Schools across the county are expected to have staff on site to advise students on their options.
For those who have applied to university, the UCAS Hub will update from around 8am to show whether offers have been confirmed, declined or whether a student has been placed into Clearing. Students are encouraged to log in early but to be patient, as the system can be busy in the first hour.
What if results are not what you hoped?
Clearing opens from 1pm on results day and lists thousands of available university places across the UK. Students who did not meet the grades needed for their first choice, or who are having second thoughts about their plans, can use Clearing to explore alternatives. The National Careers Service exam results helpline is also available on 0800 100 900 from 8am to 8pm on the day.
For those not heading to university, sixth forms, further education colleges and apprenticeship providers will also be on hand to discuss routes into employment, training and vocational study.
GCSE results follow the week after, on Thursday 20 August, meaning the next fortnight will be a significant one for young people and families right across Pembrokeshire. Anyone who is uncertain about their next step is encouraged to speak to a school or college careers adviser before making any firm decisions.
